Acai and Cancer

How Acai Can Help Battle Cancer

The search for a cure for cancer has persisted for decades. As more people become afflicted with cancer, the hunt has grown even more fervent. Unfortunately, the cure has been elusive. But, new hope has been reignited by the acai berry. Rich in antioxidants, the acai berry has shown positive results in the battle against cancer.

The Power Of Acai’s Antioxidants

The antioxidants in the acai berry are powerful agents. To protect your body, they battle the effects of “free radical” cells. Left unchallenged, free radicals attack and destroy cells. It’s through a similar process that acai’s antioxidants protect your body against cancer cells. When cancer cells form and propagate, the antioxidants help to eliminate them. When tumors are identified, the antioxidants aid in destroying them.

Acai’s antioxidants have been known to offer a number of important health benefits, including preventing heart disease and memory loss. But, recent discoveries have offered hope for one of the worst afflictions known: cancer. Further studies are being conducted to gather as much information about the cancer-fighting ability of the acai berry. But, recent findings seem to offer hope.

Recent Medical Research Suggests Acai Fights Cancer

In 2006, a study conducted by scientists at the University of Florida yielded interesting results. The scientists were surprised to find that the antioxidants in the acai berry caused leukemia cells to effectively self-destruct. This was the case for nearly 86% of the leukemia cells that were tested. The scientists who conducted the study were quick to say that the results do not imply definitive answers yet. But, they spoke directly when saying the results of the study were an important key to learning what additional benefits the acai berry may hold.

Is Acai A Cure For Cancer?

In order to say that acai is a cure for cancer, more testing and medical research are required. Experts are learning more about the potency of acai each year. While the berry is not called a “cure for cancer,” it has shown numerous positive impacts against cancer cells and tumors. It’s not likely that we’ll have a definitive answer for a number of years. But, if you’re interested in acai and its cancer-fighting ability, consider including it in your daily diet.
